You want to Speak About It.

We’ll show you how!

What is the Flagship Show?

Speak About It’s Flagship Show uses true storytelling and live performance to capture what healthy relationships and sex can and should look like. The hour-long show has been seen by nearly 500,000 students in over 25 states and 3 countries. The show is performed by five actor-educators, and uses real stories written by real young people in order to engage students in conversations about consent, dating, sex, identity, alcohol, bystander intervention, sexual assault, and more.

The performance is inclusive of all genders, sexualities, and sexual choices. We use language and scenarios to reinforce that inclusivity. Entertaining, educational, and impactful, our Flagship Show uses humor and humanity to provide practical tools for communicating about boundaries and desires, while sparking important dialogue about consent culture on campus. All performances include a free student leader training and/or facilitated post-show discussion.

We strive for students to relate and resonate with the people they see and the stories they hear on stage. Our Actor-Educators hail from myriad identities and backgrounds. Each receives sexual assault response training and speaks passionately, onstage and off, about the importance of affirmative consent and taking an active role in ending sexual violence.

Fun, funny, and impactful.

Our show promotes an affirmative consent model. We teach students that a freely given, conscious, voluntary, and enthusiastic YES to sexual activity is not only the best standard of consent, it is also the most healthy and fun! Affirmative consent centers healthy relationships and clear communication, and it promotes pleasure, empathy, active listening, and self discovery.

While sexual assault prevention is a serious topic that our show treats with the gravity it deserves, we believe healthy sexuality should be pleasurable and positive. Learning about your own sexuality can be pretty silly, and campus communities should be fun, so we infuse our performance with humor and leave our audiences feeling prepared and empowered.

Who is the show for?

Our Flagship Show is best suited for late high school and early college audiences. It can be performed for graduating seniors, first-year college students, as part of orientation programming, for all-campus events, or for student leaders, athletes, members of Greek organizations, LGBTQ+ clubs, and more. We have performed for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Pride weeks, as year-end programming for high school seniors, and at conferences and community events. There’s lots of different ways our show can fit into your curriculum or programming!

The show is designed to engage and empower students to continue the conversation with each other long after the show has ended. We strongly recommend following the performance with small group discussions facilitated by peer leaders or our educators. We include facilitated discussions or training for students to lead these discussions for FREE with any performance.

“Speak About It cleverly combines respectful discourse around sexual assault, sex-positivity, and different kinds of college relationships. The performance is consistently engaging and speaks to every student in the audience. I was particularly impressed with the successful effort to incorporate variations in gender identity and sexual orientation. Students left feeling validated and empowered to support each other in making healthy choices.”

What’s included with the show?

Post-show Discussion:

We offer (and recommend!) our Student Leader Training & Dicsussions for FREE with all shows.

Colleges

Student leaders have the potential to make the most significant impact on their own campus culture. Our College Student Leader Training teaches campus leaders (RAs, OLs, Greek leaders, peer health educators, etc) to facilitate post-show discussions with their peers. Speak About It educators will work alongside student leaders to discuss campus climate, including hook-up culture, dating, sex, partying, and consent. We will help leaders develop discussion questions, structures, and strategies to best facilitate effective de-brief conversations.

High Schools

In our high school Student Leader Training & Discussion, Speak About It Educators meet with student leaders prior to the show, and then collaborate with these selected students to co-facilitate conversations for their peers after the show. We work with students to devise questions specific to their campus that get at the root of sexual violence and other campus issues. We help students find answers and develop strategies that they can put into practice in their own lives both individually and as a community.

Customized Script:

When you book a performance, our staff will work with you to gather the information necessary to develop a customized script that meets the needs of your institution and best engages your students. We work to incorporate cultural references, information, jokes, and resources specific to each institution we visit. Customizing the show as much as possible creates a connection with the audience, engaging them through familiarity and humor, and allowing us to discuss sexual assault and consent in a context the audience can understand and relate to.

Resource Promotion:

Our show tackles tough issues that may be difficult to process for some audience members. We ask that representatives from local sexual assault response groups and on-campus resources be physically present and available throughout the performance. We are happy to help connect you with your local resources if needed.

Each show also includes a discussion of on and off-campus resources specific to your institution and local community. We also maintain a directory of resources for each institution we serve on our website for students to reference following the show.

Marketing & Promotion

Get your students pumped to Speak About It! We are happy to send you a press kit, including a custom poster for your show, imagesm and copy for social media, as well as press releases as desired.

“Over two-thirds of my students pointed to your program as hands-down the best thing they learned in class. All year.”
